Designer guide

Use Ethiopian typefaces and logos in your design files — through the Nidef plugins or straight from this site.

Who this page is for

For designers working in Figma or Photoshop. You'll find every Nidef typeface and logo without leaving your canvas. Writing code instead? Go to the Developer guide.

Without a plugin

Everything in the plugins is also on this site.

  • Typefaces — open a typeface and click Download Family to get the font files, then install them on your computer.
  • Logos — open a logo and click Download SVG for one variant, or Download All (ZIP) for every variant.

Usage and licensing

  • Typefaces marked OFL can be used, shared, and embedded freely, including in commercial work.
  • Typefaces marked License unlisted are for mockups only until the type designer confirms a licence.
  • Logos are trademarks of their owners. Use them only to refer to that organisation, never to imply endorsement.
  • Always credit the type designer shown on the typeface page.

Do's and don'ts

Do

  • Keep clear space around logos
  • Use the mono variant on photos and busy backgrounds
  • Use the on-dark variant on dark surfaces
  • Credit the type designer

Don't

  • Stretch, recolour, or outline logos
  • Fake bold or italic Ethiopic — pick a real weight
  • Redistribute fonts whose licence is unlisted
